The real problems

If you have said any of these, you are in the right place

These are the situations Indian business owners actually run into — checked against Google’s own documentation and the Google Business Profile support community, not invented for a website.

“My business does not show on Google Maps at all”

Usually one of four things: never verified, a wrong primary category, no service area set, or a profile so thin that Google does not trust it enough to rank. All four are fixable, and none of them cost money to fix — they cost attention.

“My profile got suspended”

In India the usual causes are keywords stuffed into the business name, a virtual office or coworking address used as the registered location, a home-based business that does not meet Google’s address rules, duplicate listings, or a burst of quick edits that trips the automated review. Reinstatement typically takes 7–14 business days — but only if the cause is fixed first.

“My video verification keeps failing”

Google’s stated reasons are consistent: the business name is not visible on the storefront, there is no view of the surrounding area, you have not shown you are authorised to represent the business, or the location does not match the address on the profile. The upload itself is also genuinely buggy — a shorter video on a stable connection often succeeds where a long one fails.

“The verification postcard never arrived”

Postcards get lost here constantly and can take 7–14 days even when they do arrive. You can request it again, and in many cases switch to phone, email or video verification instead — most new listings in India are now pushed towards video anyway.

“Someone else has claimed my listing”

Very common — an old employee, a previous agency, or someone who claimed it years ago. There is a formal ownership request and appeal process. It needs patience and the right documents: registration certificate, storefront photos and proof of address.

“There are two or three listings of my business”

Duplicates split your reviews and confuse Google, so none of them rank properly. They have to be merged or removed the correct way — deleting the wrong one loses those reviews permanently.

“A competitor has keywords stuffed in their name and ranks above me”

“Best Dental Clinic Nakodar” as a business name is against Google’s guidelines. Google’s Vicinity update in 2021 was aimed at exactly this, and it can be reported through the Business Redressal Complaint Form with evidence. What you must not do is copy them — that is the single most common cause of suspension.

“I got a 1-star review from someone who was never a customer”

Fake, bot-generated and off-topic reviews can be reported through the Reviews Management Tool — choose “Spam” for reviewers who were never customers. Google decides within about 3–7 business days and does not notify you, so you have to check back. It will not remove a review simply because you disagree with it.

“My reviews disappeared”

Usually Google’s spam filter, triggered by many reviews arriving at once, from the same device or network, or from accounts with no history. This is exactly why buying reviews backfires — the reviews vanish and the listing carries the suspicion.

“Google changed my name or hours by itself”

Google accepts suggested edits from the public and from its own data sources. If nobody is watching the listing, those go live. Monitoring and reverting them is ongoing work, not a one-time setup.

“It says permanently closed but we are open”

Either someone suggested it or Google inferred it from inactivity. It can be reversed, and regular posts and photos are what stop it happening again.

“I do not want my home address shown”

Set it up as a service area business — the street address stays hidden and you list the towns you cover instead. Google still needs a real address at verification, it just will not display it.

“My category keeps getting me the wrong enquiries”

The primary category decides which searches you appear in, and it moves rankings more than anything else on the profile. A wrong or over-broad category is why you get calls for things you do not sell and miss the ones you do.

“Customers keep uploading bad photos”

You cannot delete them, but you can bury them. A steady stream of good photos from you pushes them down, and genuinely irrelevant ones can be reported.

“We moved and our rankings dropped”

Distance from the searcher is a real ranking factor, so a move genuinely changes things. Address, service area and your listings elsewhere all have to be updated together, or Google keeps seeing two versions of you.

“My clinic keeps getting auto-flagged for no reason”

Google’s filters scrutinise certain categories far more heavily — medical, legal and a handful of trades that attract spam. A perfectly legitimate business in those categories gets caught sometimes. It is recoverable, but it needs the documentation ready in advance.

Reviews

What the current research says about reviews

And 41% now say they always read them, up from 29% a year earlier. BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2026

47%

will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews

Review count is read as evidence the business is real and still trading.

73%

What we do

What is actually in the work

  • Claim, recover or reinstate — locked-out listings, duplicates and suspension appeals, with the documentation Google actually asks for.
  • Verification handled end to end — video, phone, email or postcard, whichever Google offers, including re-attempts when it fails.
  • Primary and secondary categories chosen deliberately. This one setting moves rankings more than anything else on the profile.
  • Service area set for your towns so Nakodar, Shahkot, Lohian and Nurmahal searches can reach you.
  • We come and shoot the photos. Board, exterior, interior, team, work in progress — nobody managing you from a city office will do this.
  • Services, products, description and attributes filled in the words people actually search.
  • Spam competitors reported through the Business Redressal Complaint Form, with evidence attached.
  • Suggested edits monitored and reverted so Google does not quietly change your hours or name.
  • A review system that is not fake — a WhatsApp message after the job, a QR card at the counter, and a reply to every review including the unhappy ones.
  • Weekly posts so the profile stays active and does not get marked closed.
  • Monthly report — calls from the listing, direction requests, the searches you appeared for, and review count.

Questions

Straight answers

Google par business kaise laye?

Google Business Profile par jaakar business banao, asli address ya service area do, sahi category chuno, aur verification poori karo. Ab India mein zyadatar video verification aati hai — dukaan ka board, aas-paas ka area, aur aap us business ke authorised ho, teeno video mein dikhne chahiye. Verification ke baad photos, timings, services aur reviews se ranking banti hai. Adhoori profile Google rank nahi karta.

Google par business kaise register kare?

Ek Google account chahiye aur business ka asli proof — board, bill, ya premises. Naam bilkul wahi rakho jo board par likha hai; keywords mat thoonso, kyunki India mein suspension ki sabse badi wajah yahi hai. Postcard aaye to 7–14 din lagte hain, video verification usse tez hai.

My Google Business Profile is suspended. Can it come back?

Usually yes — but only after the cause is fixed. In India the most common causes are keywords in the business name, a virtual office or coworking address, a home business that does not meet the address rules, or duplicates. Fix the cause, gather registration proof, storefront photos and address proof, then file the reinstatement. It typically takes 7 to 14 business days.

Why does my video verification keep failing?

Almost always one of four things Google names directly: your business name is not visible on the storefront in the video, you never pan to show the surrounding area, you do not show that you are authorised to represent the business, or the location does not match the address on your profile. Beyond that the upload itself is buggy — keep the video short and stable and retry.

How to add business on Google without an address?

Set it up as a service area business. The street address stays hidden and you list the towns you serve instead. Google still needs a real address at verification, it just will not display it publicly.

How do I get more Google reviews — can I buy them?

Do not buy them. Google’s filter catches them, the reviews disappear, and the suspicion stays on your listing — which is the one asset you cannot easily rebuild. What works is asking every satisfied customer at the right moment, by WhatsApp, with a direct link.

A competitor has stuffed keywords into their business name. What can I do?

Report it through Google’s Business Redressal Complaint Form with screenshots. It is reviewed manually and takes several days. Google has been targeting exactly this since the Vicinity update in 2021. Do not copy them — that is how listings get suspended.

How many Google reviews do I need to rank?

There is no threshold. What matters is having more than whoever ranks above you, that they arrive steadily rather than twenty in a week, and that you reply to them. Steady and real beats a sudden pile.

How long before I see a difference?

Two to four weeks for the profile to settle after the fixes, and that is when the “found you on Google” calls start. Reviews take about three months to visibly change how you look next to your competitors.

Why is my listing not showing up on Google?

Usually one of four things: it was never verified, the information does not match what Google finds about you elsewhere, a recent edit is still under review, or the listing has been suspended. The fix is different in each case, so the first job is working out which one it is rather than guessing.

Why is my business not showing up on Google after verification?

Verification only makes the listing eligible. Whether it appears for a search depends on category, distance, and how much Google trusts the listing. A newly verified profile with one photo and no reviews will sit below a five-year-old one. Closing that gap is the actual work.

Where did my Google business listing go?

Either it was suspended, merged with a duplicate, or claimed by someone else. All three are recoverable. But creating a new listing while the old one is suspended makes the problem permanent, so bring us the old one before you make a new one.

How long does it take for a Google business listing to show up?

Edits usually settle within a few days. A new listing takes two to four weeks to start appearing for anything other than your business name. Anyone promising the map results in a week is selling you something.
